Overview
My Tasks is the default view when you open AwardSpring's Task Board. It's your home base for daily work — a personal queue that shows every task you own, whether it was assigned directly to you or belongs to a Department you're a member of.
What Appears in My Tasks
My Tasks surfaces:
- Tasks where you are the direct Owner
- Tasks owned by any Department you belong to
My Tasks does not include:
- Tasks you can see (via Visibility) but don't own
- Tasks owned by other admins or departments you're not a part of
Navigating to My Tasks
- Open Task Board from the main navigation.
- My Tasks is the default leftmost tab — it loads automatically every time you open the Task Board.
- To switch to a different view, click another tab (Scholarship Tasks, All Tasks, Overdue, etc.).
Filtering in My Tasks
Use the filter panel to narrow your queue:
- Priority — Filter to Low, Medium, or High priority tasks
- Owner — Filter by a specific admin or Department (useful for managers reviewing a team member's queue)
- Visibility — Filter by how tasks are scoped
- Status, Type, Award Cycle, and other standard filters are also available
Note: Filter overrides in My Tasks persist for the current session. They reset when you log out or navigate away.
Recommended Daily Workflow
- Start in My Tasks — everything here is in your court.
- Filter by Priority — tackle High priority items first.
- Update Status as you work — keeping statuses current helps your team see what's in progress vs. waiting.
- Add Notes on complex tasks — capture context or blockers so you (and others) can pick up where you left off.
- Check the Overdue tab — tasks with a past due date surface there; use it as a daily sanity check alongside My Tasks.
Frequently Asked Questions
My Tasks is empty — what does that mean?
Either no tasks have been assigned to you or your Department(s) yet, or existing tasks don't have an Owner set. Ask your admin team to assign ownership to relevant tasks so they start appearing in your queue.
I can see a task on the board but it's not in My Tasks — why?
You have Visibility on that task (you can see it exists), but you are not the Owner. My Tasks only shows tasks you own — not all tasks you can see. To get it into your My Tasks, have the Owner or task creator update the Owner field to include you or your Department.
How does My Tasks handle Department-owned tasks?
If your Department owns a task, it appears in every team member's My Tasks simultaneously. There's no need to "claim" it — the work belongs to the whole Department.
Does My Tasks include system-generated tasks (like post-award follow-ups and renewables)?
Post-award follow-ups and renewables are managed in the Scholarship Tasks tab. Check there for your follow-up queue and renewal work.
Can I make a different tab my permanent default?
My Tasks is the default view every time you open Task Board — it loads automatically without any configuration needed. Tab preferences are not currently customizable per user.
